Tucked along the rugged coastline north of Greymouth, Breakers Boutique Accommodation offers guests a true West Coast escape overlooking the Tasman Sea. Located on the iconic Great Coast Road between Greymouth and Punakaiki, the journey to Breakers is all part of the experience.

Driving from Greymouth

From central Greymouth, head north on State Highway 6 toward Punakaiki and Westport. Cross the Grey River bridge and continue through the small coastal communities of Runanga and Rapahoe.

As you leave Rapahoe, the coastline begins to open up beside you, revealing dramatic sea views, native bush, and rugged West Coast scenery. Continue along the coast road for approximately 14 kilometres from Greymouth.

You will pass the Strongman Mine Memorial lookout before beginning the descent toward Nine Mile Creek. Breakers Boutique Accommodation is located on the left-hand side of the highway just after crossing the small bridge at Nine Mile Creek.

GPS Coordinates

As rural coastal addresses can occasionally confuse GPS systems, we recommend entering the exact coordinates below into your navigation app:

Latitude: -42.3486450 Longitude: 171.2590730

Approximate Travel Times

  • Greymouth Town Centre to Breakers: approximately 10 to 15 minutes

  • Greymouth Train Station to Breakers: approximately 15 minutes

  • Punakaiki Pancake Rocks to Breakers: approximately 25 minutes

Arriving on the Coast

The drive to Breakers Boutique Accommodation is often guests’ first introduction to the wild beauty of Te Tai o Poutini, the West Coast. Towering cliffs, crashing surf, native rainforest, and sweeping Tasman Sea views line the route north from Greymouth.

Many travellers arrive expecting only a quick stop, only to discover there is far more to explore than they first imagined. Hidden beaches, limestone formations, rainforest walks, photography locations, pounamu country, and authentic local hospitality all sit within easy reach of Breakers.

Once you arrive, Jan and Stephen are always happy to help guests discover the hidden gems of the Coast and make the most of their stay.
